QAQC
QAQC stands for "Quality Assurance and Quality Control," and it refers to the processes and activities that are used to ensure that the quality of a product meets specific requirements. In the wind energy industry, QAQC is an important aspect of the design, construction, and maintenance of wind turbines and wind farms.
1. ACTIVITIES DEVELOPMENT PHASE
- Preliminary Design
- Providing support to the Project with review design and technical documentation from the Engineering companies and during design review meetings with the Contractors.
2. Tendering, Contracting, Financing
- Drafting the Employer Requirements (ER) on Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) for the Works including DCS and Milestone completion process.
- Providing support to the Project during the discussions and negotiations of the ER QA/QC
- Providing support to the Project with reviewing Contractors’ Project Quality Plans and ITPs
- Providing support to the Project with technical queries from the Contractors, and Lender
2. ACTIVITIES CONSTRUCTION PHASE
1. Preliminary Design
- Providing support to the Project with review design and technical documentation from the Contractors review meetings with the Contractors.
2. Fabrication
- Providing support to the Project with reviewing Contractors’ Project Quality Plans and ITPs for the specific Works (shall there be any open point for discussion).
- Perform, as Client’s representative, manufacturers’ and contractors’ audits and inspections as stipulated in the agreed ITP.
- FAT witnessing.
3. Installation / Commissioning / Taking over
- Providing support to the Project with review design and technical documentation from the Contractors review meetings with the Contractors;
- Monitor and review the Contractors’ design information submission and approval;
- Perform QAQC works as Client’s representative, in order to;
- visually inspect transportation, handling and storage of key components with quality inspectors;
- witness site special operations and/or tests identified in mutual agreement with Contractors and defined in Contractors’ ITPs;
- visually inspect the works and assess construction progress
- A works inspection register will be filled in after each deliverable and delivered to the Project Manager to update on Works quality and provide general discussion of the ongoing Works;
- Monitor through ad hoc inspections during commissioning phase of the Works the temporary hand over and final take over process. Inspection reports will be released after each inspection;
- Review and approve the reports provided by the Contractors on the quality and progress of construction Works;
- Report on milestone achievement for each construction milestone providing confirmation that milestone requirements have been verified;
- Assist on Contractors’ monthly payments in order to present them to the LTA for approval by the LTA to be able to pay the subsequent sent invoices from the Contractor
- Hand-over inspections, hold and witness point inspections, incoming goods inspections, Take Over inspections, etc
